Opportunities for Students

There's something special about working in local government. You have the opportunity to make a valued contribution to your community and a real difference in people’s lives. 

At various times we offer a number of tertiary scholarships to Taranaki locals who are studying full-time in areas relevant to the work we do. Whether we offer scholarships for 2012/13 is yet to be confirmed.

Scholarship recipients usually have their course fees paid for by us and be provided with 10 weeks paid holiday work each year. Recipients then join our graduate work programme for two years after finishing their studies. 

We often award scholarships in the following areas: 

• Applied mathematics / statistics.
• Civil engineering.
• Curatorial studies.
• Finance / accounting.
• Geography.
• Parks / landscape / recreation management.
• IT / application development.
• Library studies.
• Planning.
• Policy development.
• Process engineering.
• Software engineering.
• Water and wastewater treatment.
