Pumped Sewer Connection Point of Discharge for the Oakura Sewerage Scheme Policy

Policy Purpose

This policy outlines the discharge, location and management requirements for Oakura Sewerage Scheme points of discharge.

Policy Statements

The following statements apply to Oakura Sewerage Scheme Pumped Sewer connection point of discharge:

1. All private pump connections shall incorporate either an access chamber or a boundary kit located within public road reserve as close as practicable to the legal boundary of the serviced property.
2. The point of discharge shall be either the joint on the inlet to the access chamber or the joint on the upstream end of a boundary kit.
3. Where practicable the pressure connection shall discharge into a manhole located on the public sewer main.
4. The property owner is responsible for maintaining the pipe up to the point of discharge.
5. The Council is responsible for maintaining the pipe from the point of discharge to the public sewer main.
6. For the avoidance of doubt the access chamber or boundary kit shall be owned and maintained by the Council.

Review of Policy

This policy shall be reviewed in 2014.
